If you enjoy shopping, then the markets, shops and antiques warehouses of Newark and Sherwood will be right up your street!

Newark and Southwell all have busy lively markets, with Newark boasting the most with three market days every week.

Markets in Newark are held on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The Saturday market is the biggest.
Antique markets in Newark are held on Mondays and Thursdays and Farmers markets are held on the first Wednesday of the month.

Southwell has a Saturday market from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Small speciality shops and boutiques, several of them unique to the area, can be found in both the towns of Newark and Southwell and if you’re looking for well-known high street stores you will find them here too.

If antiques are your interest, you could not choose a better destination than to benear Newark for your break. Throughout the area, you will find an abundance of antiques warehouses and shops, offering good value for money and ample opportunity to browse. Antique fairs are held on a regular basis, with the International Antique Fairs, held at Newark Showground, attracting buyers and sellers from far and wide.

For a true taste of Newark and Sherwood, try one of the many farm shops in the area which sell local produce from fruit and vegetables, meat and cheeses to homemade cakes and ice cream. Maxey’s Farm Shop, Hockerton is a must to visit as is also Newfield Dairy at Hockerton where you can buy their handmade ice cream. The Hay Barn at Kneesall just a mile away from the cottages, is well known for its coffee shop and produce and also serves delicious meals
